Dr. Hemlata S. Mohan, Principal, Delhi Public School, Bokaro Steel City took a noble initiative to open the treasure house of knowledge to children deprived of elementary education on 2nd July 2001 and lit the lives of children with the lamp of literacy. Deepansh Shiksha Kendra is a demonstration of this broad vision and is a humble attempt towards community welfare.
The children of Deepansh now have a sense of belongingness and are ensured the basic rights - a right to inclusion. Today this school is run in the afternoon in the Senior Wing and is exemplary in transforming the lives of about 400 economically deprived children of the society. The school imparts education upto Class VII. The children are provided with free uniforms, teaching materials, educational items and other essentials. The level of education is as per the guide lines of the CBSE and curriculum instructional is Mixed Medium. Students who are capable of maintaining the academic standard are absorbed in to the main stream education.
The school seeks to develop each child's unique individual ability through varied and rigorous academic and co-curricular programmes which allow these children to scale new heights. The children have access to the main library where learning becomes more meaningful. Basic Computer Education is also imparted to these students which opens the window to the world outside.
The learning process supports the natural development of the child. The students get an opportunity to express their talent in vocal music, table, dance, and art through the Work and Art Education Classes conducted by the teachers of DPS. Special assemblies, sport activities, cultural events and picnics are scheduled through out the academic year.
